Forty Long Years
How many times has He parted for me My seas of troubles and rivers of needs But my heart was hardened and stone be my ears So I wondered that desert for forty long years Not hearing His call only feeling my pain He had given me so much, but still I complained Searching for something that wasn’t quite clear I wondered that desert for forty long years He led me through trials and tribulations Disciplining the wicked, in which I was one Being led by misfortune unable to hear I wondered that desert for forty long years And you tried to reach me for so many years But your teaching fell on deaf angry ears The wisdom I thought I’d learned from my tears Was a lie, and now I see, I wasted forty long years Blessed are those who need not see to believe But I wanted proof before I’d concede So I walked through the valleys and shadows in fear And I wondered that desert for forty long years © 2004 Randy Milligan
